Panel A
Cut to a strange room that appears to be halfway between ancient alchemists' lab and a modern doctor's operating room. All manner of strange implements and apparati adorn the tables and work surfaces of the room. Standing at one such table, with his back turned, is the older gentleman who removed Johnny Handsome from the playground in Issue #1. He is still wearing his fine tailored clothes, though he also now wears a doctor's smock, and has his sleeves rolled up past the elbow. He seems to be working with something on the table before him.
???: "That will do for you, Handsome."
Panel B
Close-up on the table where we can see that the mystery man is washing his bloody hands in a basin of water. Tiny bits of flesh and brain matter float atop the surface of the liquid amidst eddies of blood.
???: "I could have done much more for you. If you had succeeded in recovering my bag."
Panel C
The mystery man turns aside, and we see over his shoulder the figure of Johnny Handsome sitting strapped to what might be a wooden dentist's chair. His head rests naturally atop his neck, seemingly "repaired". But the whole of his head and face is wrapped in gauze, and a network of leather straps with buckles appear to be holding his skull together, giving it shape and support. There is a large gap in the leather network, intentionally created over the right eye. Within this gap, Handsome's eye is covered over with gauze.
???: "Do you appreciate the irony, John?"
Panel D
The mystery man steps close to Handsome, and Johnny raises his head in the direction of the man's voice. We still cannot see the mystery man's face.
???: "You died, John. Again."
Panel E
The mystery man uses a scalpel to cut away at the bit of gauze covering Handsome's right eye.
???: "And I have brought you back. Again."
Panel F
The mystery man slices away the gauze with his scalpel as he begins to peel it away from Johnny's face. It comes away sticky with blood.
???: "And so my question to you is: What will you do now?"
